I began studying Shamanism under the guidance of Rebecca Singer in 2018 and quickly started to incorporate Shamanic spiritualism into life and work. (Read more about Rebecca's lineage here.)

My path towards this practice was not initially obvious. While training and working as a massage therapist, I became starkly aware of seeing visions. As time went on, I felt strongly that these visions contained useful information. In an attempt to explore and work with this phenomenon, I studied and acquired certification in the healing modalities of Polarity and Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy.

During my studies, a colleague suggested that visions were shamanic in nature, but at the time I was not yet comfortable exploring the shamanic path. Eventually, I happened to have a string of encounters with Shaman and, in their ceremonies, I experienced potent ancestral visions and profound epiphanies. I realized then that it was important for me to learn shamanic work to better understand the visions I was having, since other modalities had not quite addressed their use.

Still, I found myself in deep resistance towards shamanic work. I didn’t really have a context for this work in my world view, having grown up in Western society and been conditioned to understand the world through a scientific and rational lens. To begin my practice in Shamanism, I would have to train myself to let go of that world view and enter into a process of connecting with my heart.   This process continues, and I assume will for as long as I live.

The shamanic work of journeying to the Spirit world has required me to practise and study, and it has also necessitated a foundational shift in my belief systems, along with true acceptance that the universe and everything in it is one consciousness.
